Daily Discovery (former working name Daily Roundup) was an experiment to see how we could affect user retention and DAU through a daily alert. Every day, StumbleUpon would compile 5 of the day's top pages and send out a push notification, which would open up the Daily Discovery experience. Some questions we wanted to answer were: How many people would engage with this alert and use the feature? How many pages would they want to see every day? Would the user come back more regularly over time? Would they discover new things that they normally wouldn't have seen outside of their interest selections?
